When the sun in the morning peeps over the hill
And kisses the roses ’round my window sill
Then my heart fills with gladness when I hear the trill
Of the birds in the treetops on Mockingbird Hill
Tra la la, tweedle dee dee dee
It gives me a thrill
To wake up in the morning
To the mockingbird’s trill
Tra la la tweedle dee dee dee
There’s peace and good will
You’re welcome as the flowers
On Mockingbird Hill
Got a three-cornered plow and an acre to till
And a mule that I bought for a ten-dollar bill
There’s a tumble-down shack and a rusty old mill
But it’s my Home Sweet Home up on Mockingbird Hill
Tra la la, tweedle dee dee dee
It gives me a thrill
To wake up in the morning
To the mockingbird’s trill
Tra la la tweedle dee dee dee
There’s peace and good will
You’re welcome as the flowers
On Mockingbird Hill
When it’s late in the evening I climb up the hill
And survey all my kingdom while everything’s still
Only me and the sky and an old whippoorwill
Singin’ songs in the twilight on Mockingbird Hill
Tra la la, tweedle dee dee dee
It gives me a thrill
To wake up in the morning
To the mockingbird’s trill
Tra la la tweedle dee dee dee
There’s peace and good will
You’re welcome as the flowers
On Mockingbird Hill

I love your site!! I was tickled pink to be able to download the midi of ‘Mockingbird Hill’… I send it along with emails to my favorite folks.. I remember as a young girl, my daddy singing this song to us 3 girls and we thought he sang funny — but we learned the song anyway and loved it.. He was quite a joker… (I am 65 now..)
Thanks so much for making my day. Nancee
I’m glad you found us … and that you love us!!
I remember my mother singing this song and I taught it to my children and at the school I teach at. But I only knew the first and last verses. Glad to get all the words.
I love this song. Am looking for the sheet music. Who wrote the song, and do you have an idea who might still publish the music?
Thank you.
Would like to have the name of the artist for Mocking Bird Hill. Picture of sunset house plow and barn and garden. Mostly Brown tinted. Mockingbird Hill was the first popular song I learned to play on my accordian back in the early 1950′s. Still love that song.
Have a good day., Darrell
It is good to hear that song again after all these years. Still love it best compared to todays music.
It brings back pleasant memories of childhood listening to the radio in our kitchen in an athmosphere of warmth and love.
I came back for the song today 7/21/2010. Best music around.

I love this song just as much as I loved it 60 years ago.
I went to primary school in Chalmette, La for a short period, then returned to the Netherlands with my family(my father was a sea captain).
On one of the first days in class we sang this song and it somehow fixed itself in my mind
(although I did not understand a word of it) .
Hearing it somehow makes me happy and think over those long ago school days.
Thank you for making it available so nicely.
Greetings,
Roel
