Thank you very much for dedicating this song to your mama. It brings back a lot of memories for me also. Thank you for your website. I have already found a bunch of songs that I used to play and had forgotten over the years.

I woke this a.m. to our first really fall day here in Southern Oregon.....dark clouds, wind whipping the trees and a light rain falling. It was too cozy to just leap out of bed. I snuggled in, closed my eyes, and this song popped into my mind. It was 1938 and my third grade class was putting on our little "play" on the stage of our small school in Arkansas. I was "supposed" to be sleeping and dreaming while a few of the children came out in old fashioned clothes and began to slowly dance to this song. The words began to come back as I hummed the words to myself. More words slowly appeared but there were too many missing so I hopefully got on Google because he has never failed me. THERE THEY WERE !!! I know I'll be happily singing them to my little dog all day.

Just surfed onto your website doing a google search on the lyrics "There’s an old spinning wheel in the parlor". MY grandma and mom used to sing this and for some reason, I decided to look up the words and your webpage came up!!!.
Just wanted to say want a wonderful tribute to your "little Mama". We all surf the internet these days, some very intently as I do, and this is one of the nicest dedications and tributes I have seen thus far (and believe me, I rarely take the time to comment on anything on the internet). Your dedication made me regret not knowing her...
I look forward meeting her when I pass on!
Thanks for the introduction! God Bless!

What a lovely song - heard it on a re-run of the Waltons tonight (Sept 8/09) - and it it reminded me of a song I'm sure I've heard my mother sing to me when I was a child.
Thank you so much for the lovely memory -
