The Church in the Wildwood – This is one of my Favorites. I always remember the Andy Griffith show when the man passing through town was in a big hurry – until he caught-on to life in Mayberry! Andy and Barney sang this in harmony – beautiful! | |

fifty years ago when i was seventeen i heard this guy singing a song the words went like this “is the world just designed for the chosen few are the fates only kind to the chosen few” i can remember all the words and the tune but i have never been able to find the music to it or find the words to see if my memory is correct if you can help how fantastic that would be best regards terry okeefe ps i am 67 years old so that was fifty years when i first heard it.
Hello Terry,
Gerry Rafferty’s “The Land Of The Chosen Few” may be what you are looking for. Do a google search for that and see what you think.
Oh My goodness- – such great memories with these songs – - so fun to sing along!
thanks.
Thank you, Nancy! You don’t know how happy your saying that makes me!
Hi Debbie, it’s been a long time since we were in contact. Was fun to find your site again tonight. I was listening to some Bobby Vinton and it reminded me of the old days on the net and how much fun it was in those days before “spam” Nice to see you guys still hanging in there. Thanks again for a great site!
Hey Iona!
Good to hear from you again! Yes, the net has vastly changed, but I think we can all make our own little communities of folks who like what we like. I’m trying anyway!
Deb
I had a flashback and some lyrics popped into my head from an old song. I googled it and all that came up was by Buddy Holly and I’m pretty sure it was older than that. It goes something like this: That’s what they tell me, that’s what they say…?
That’s “It Only Hurts For a Little While”

I absolutly love your site!!! Thanks! Sincerly Peg
Come across site by chance,as a old codger [just turned 64] and a keyboard player, it is fantastic keep up the good work
I came across your site by chance. Visited the sing-alongs at the “Old Codgers”. Brought back memories of my dad who used to sing these songs. Thought the words of some of these oldies had passed away with him. Thanks for keeping them and their memories alive.
Warren
I’m so glad you are enjoying it!
Have had a lovely time visiting your site – great old music for sing-alongs – intend to visit often. Keep up the good work.
Blessings,
Dee
What a great find. Hope you can help me locate a silly song my Mom used to sing. Must have been popular in the 20′s…some keywords are:
I’ll never go to Michigan,
I’ll tell you the reason why….
They…..
I’ll be back to visit this site often…..it’s great.
Also am an old Codger! A privilege denied to many.
Thanks! I’ve enjoyed your site… please keep up the good work!
Wes
I love your selection and quality of songs!!!
Would you be able to find the song A place in my Heart in Midi format ?
The one Nana Mouskoury sings.
Thank you for a great site.
Erwin
would love to hear Harbor Lights
love hearing Lili Marlene. I was in WW2 and it was a popular song, especially when Marlene Dietrich sang it
What a fantastic find. Thanks and God bless all of you who must devote countless hours to provide enjoyment and wonderful memories to others. JTM
I don’t mean to be greedy but if you ever have the inclination, some of the WW2 era songs that I would love to hear – P.S. I Love You, I Had the Craziest Dream, There I’ve Said It Again.
Thanks again for all the beautiful music. JTM
Hello John
I am glad you are enjoying your visit. I am Hosting a Reunion of the 487th and 486th Bomb Groups of the Mighty Eighth Air Force (WWII) this coming October in Savannah, Georgia. On one of the evenings, we are having an old fashioned sing-a-long. I am in the process of making about 200 of these sing-a-longs for that.! So as I get them done I will be posting them here on this site. The ones you mentioned will probably be there. Keep checking back.
Oh – and if you enjoy this site, you will love Redsal’s page. He does a lot of these songs for me. His site address is http://www.redsal.com
Deb, It was wonderful to find the lyrics for Tammy! My parents used to sing it as a duet. It was such a beautiful celebration of their love for each other. One of my favorite memories from childhood.
I heard a song at the drugstore yesterday that m,y mother used to whistle. I think the lyrics of part of it went ‘It was you, it was you, it was alway always you, and I’ve known that from the start’. Does that ring any bells? I woukd love to be able to hear it again.
Music is such a tangible way of connecting with those who are gone now. Thanks from the bottom of my heart, for the musical memories.
